An intensive 4-day workshop in Vienna led by Toby Purser and Giuseppe Ravì, based on the principles of the connection between musical intention, breath and movement.
Join us for a transformative
four-day workshop!
Program
minimum podium time: 140 min.
Day 1 & Day 2
(7 hrs per day)
4 repertoire sessions with pianists
2 group coaching sessions
Over the first two days, we'll have four repertoire sessions, working with pianists and both tutors. The focus will be on connecting your musical vision with your physical expression. In addition, we'll help identify any potentially unproductive habits, providing an excellent opportunity to replace them with more effective ones. The insights gained during these initial days will prepare you for Day 3, when you will conduct an ensemble of two pianists plus a string quintet.
Day 3
( 7 hrs)
2 session with Ensemble
group discussion
Day 3 marks the transition from working with pianists to exploring the dynamic world of ensemble performance, conducting an ensemble of strings quintet and two pianists, and accompanying a singer in dramatic recicitivo and aria. By gradually expanding the scope of our focus, we ensure a comprehensive and seamless learning experience that empowers you to become a more effective and expressive conductor within an ensemble context.
Day 4
1 on 1 session with both tutors
group discussion
1 final rehearsal and showcase performance
On Day 4, you will have the opportunity for individualised guidance and mentorship during one-on-one sessions with both tutors. These personalised sessions will allow you to receive tailored feedback, address specific musical challenges, and refine your technical skills.
In the afternoon, we will come together for a last group discussion and preparation for your final rehearsal and showcase performance. This session provides an open forum to exchange ideas, share insights, and explore topics relevant to competition technique and performance.
The final rehearsal will integrate everything you have experienced over the workshop, culminating in a final performance for your video portfolio.
